About the event
October Men's pop-up group. We'll discuss the questions posed by the Demon Screwtape as how this 20th c. book still brings up relevant universal as well as particular difficulties we face as a people when trying to be Christian. We'll center our questions around the Trifold renunciation we make at Baptism: against The Devil, the World, and The Flesh. Topics we might discuss include demon worship as functional but frequently unknown idolatry, the World in the 21st c. primarily functioning through Technological Bureaucracy, and the Flesh as tempting us to act on our Passions rather than suffer them, as well as theory of Emotivism: that conversations between people in our country is primarily about sharing opinions, mere feelings, rather than claims about truth. In short, we'll discuss the virtues of seeking truth, resisting one's own passions, and true piety as essential chilvaric virtues. We'll discuss and share experiences of these sorts of obstacles Christian Men face in everyday life: at home, at work, & in the public forum.
